The path of spiritual growth is often referenced to as a spiral growth pattern. Part of my understanding of what this means is that we will revisit the same situations or the same trigger over and over, but each time we do, it’s at a different, higher place on the spiral. Our growth has expanded each time we encounter the same cycle and we have the opportunity to see it in a different way, to heal more deeply and/or heal another aspect of ourselves in this situation.
I like this concept because it’s a more expansive view than the just thinking we are in the same loop or hamster wheel with no growth.
When I look back on my journey so far, I think the growth/change was very subtle at first so it appeared I was in the same loop, but now even as the same patterns show up I absolutely have a different perspective and they don’t remotely trigger me how they used to.
Like the chambers in the nautilus shell, they are small at first but as it spirals out the chambers are much roomier (for a broader, higher perspective).
